Amazing watercolour Simulation at all

I am an 56 years old experieced Aquarellist, Architect and Professor for Presentation Methodology at Bauhaus University Weimar. I tried out AurinTint only one eavening till now. All I found out in this short time is, that the developer of the app either must be an Aquarellist with genial programming abilities or he knows such a freak who can code all his expert knoweledge. All digital painters who did never hold a water colour brush in their hands, can neither imagine nor understand the geniality of this app. You only can use the app with success, if you are familiar with the workflow of watercolour painting in its analoge sense. It is a watercolour simulation for watercolour painters not a digital Version of watercolour painting for digital watercolour newbees. However, using this app may lead the user tryiig out real canvas and watercolours what would be an enormous effect against the digital mainstream. However, I like it very much, congratulations for such an amazing App! Prof. Andreas Kaestner

Good...but needs Retina-support...

Quite good app, works really fine but: -Retina support -Brushsize preview -Landscape Mode -Background Image would be great !!! but anyway thanks for developing this app...

best real watercolour effect

a must have for every ipadpainter. autentic watercolour effect, no other app can compare. the ui could be more beautiful, but its still great!

Wonderful!

I love it! And it works really well! This app is awesome!!!

Why so pixelated?

It makes visually-pleasing watercolor-like images, but they are surprisingly pixelated. I wonder why the app doesnt antialias the output more effectively.

almost there

I am very happy someone has released a watercolor simulation app but I feel I must say this app is not suitable for complete novices who want a short-cut to making slick looking art. The app requires an artist with some skill and experience to get results similar to what is shown in the promo images. The app will probably be more rewarding for people with more experience painting and digital painting if polished results are wanted. However - at the very modest price it is well worth buying as a toy by novice or non-painters though they will want some other more conventional app as well if they wish to develop their skills as an artist. Yes - there is a problem with anti-aliasing which means you might end up rescaling your paintings to 50% in size using some other app to make them look smoother. Also, be aware that the user instructions are accessed via the "File" button. My final comment is that although this is not the most easy app to paint with it is definitely worth the price and developers like this should be encourage to development this kind of ambitious natural media simulation for iPad.

Great but why so pixelated?

Something must be wrong. On my iPad2 the canvas is extremely pixelated. Im not seeing where to increase the resolution. Really nice blending of watercolors though.

Great opportunity

Great opportunity to create gorgeous watercolor, but I need more skill and practise to make interesting drawing!...

Awesome!

Simple and powerful watercolor app.

Pretty neat

Fun to use. I think using it may actually get one thinking about how to simplify approach to real watercolor use and composition.

Love this app -- please upgrade!

This is such an amazingly promising water color simulator. I assume the extreme pixilation is to keep the speed at a decent clip, but its really hurting the usability. Its also essential to be able to work in landscape mode. Another ideal feature would be to open an image file as a layer or be able to save and continue paintings. Not essential but its also hard to create a usable wash - you run out of pigment or create stripes, unlike a real brush you cant load it, leave the edge wet and keep adding to it. I would pay a premium price for features like these. This app was more like real paint than any digital media Ive used and Id love to use it more.

This is an amazing painting experience

I have only had this one day and I am completely hooked. It is an incredible painting experience and, when paired with a Nomad brush I have on order, I suspect it will feel eerily like the real thing. The hot or cold pressed paper is amazing and the flow of the paint is quite incredible. There are some things Id love to see improved with this masterpiece: - as a watercolour artist, I often paint with only one brush and vary the pressure to achieve stroke thickness. Of course with an app, thats achieved by selecting the appropriate brush width which takes a little getting used to. I would appreciate seeing a small icon on the bottom of the screen indicating what brush style and size is currently active, much like the palette icon indicates what paint colour is active. Its a small thing, but it would help a lot with the feel of the app. - I greatly miss not having a palette of active paints. Like any watercolourist, I mix up a pool of various paint colours so I can work quickly and consistently. The app requires you to "remix" (really select your colour from the colour wheel) each time you move to a new colour so if you are painting the petals of a flower and start with a soft yellow, move to a soft pink and then want to tackle the next petal, youve got to try and recreate that yellow all over again each time. With the timer indicating the paper is drying (a great feature), the pressure is on! Ideally, there should be a customizable mini palette of paints you mix up and dip into as needed. - finally, I miss a masking capability. I cant lay down a soft wash in one colour, mask over parts of it to protect it from the next darker wash and then remove the mask to reveal the original soft wash intact. Maybe thats a feature I havent figured out yet, but "erase" doesnt really do it. It would make a huge difference to the realistic watercolour experience this app is going for. This is well worth the price. Great job!

Very impressive!

It the only app I know which the real feeling of a watercolour. Like it very much.

Updating issues, but awesome app

If you experience crashes after updating, delete the app completely from your iPad, and then just reinstall it from the Store. Sorted it out for me perfectly. This is a fantastic watercolour simulation, and by far the best realism of any app on the iPad... And Ive tried them all. And I was shocked by the speed of their technical support team. I logged an issue using their contact form, and was answered by email within the hour. Thats very rare in the mobile app world. Good on you, Auryn!

Really great but...

Since the latest update I can no longer paint to the bottom edge or left edge of canvas. I am using an iPad 2. Please fix.

Ink

Nice watercolor effect but really bad colors. impossible to get really clear yellow or red, all colors are dead. Real watercolors are famous for their brilliance. They have loads of pigment and no white in them. Too bad...

Beautiful.

Needs layers, and multiple undos. It has potential to be amazing with more development.

Great app. Very fun to play around with.

Feels authentic like Iam painting on paper
